Riot Games organizes the 10th edition of League of Legends World Championship

The event is one of the pillars of the booming Esport. A European team will face 3 Asian teams in the semi-finals on October 24th and 25th, before the final on October 31st. Esport is the practice of video games alone or in teams on the Internet or in Lan-party. It has become a worldwide phenomenon, particularly since 2000, and today generates nearly $1.5 billion in revenue per year. The question arises of integrating the discipline into the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, insofar as it requires sporting qualities such as team coordination, andurance, dexterity, precision, reflection and patience (like chess or poker).

Thus the International e-sport Federation was created in 2008 and many richly endowed tournaments are organized each year under the aegis of 6 main organizers which are Major League Gaming, eSports World Convention, Cyberathlete Professional League, Electronic Sports League Evolution Championship Series and Riot Games. Riot organizes the most important event of the year which is the Worlds LoL, named after its famous game created in 2009, for the 10th edition in September-October 2020 in Shanghai.

G2 Esports is the only one of the 4 European teams registered to be qualified for the semi-finals where it will be opposed to the Korean team Damwon Gaming. The Asians are masters in the matter since the other semi-final will oppose the 2 Chinese teams Suning and Top Esports. This is the third time in 10 years that G2 Esports reaches at least the semi-final stage with a defeat in the semi-final of 2018 and a defeat in the final last year.

In 2019, the Worlds Lol breaks an Esports record, reaching nearly 45 million simultaneous spectators for the final. League of Legend and its publisher-developer Riot Games are brands of the listed company Tencent Holdings. Tencent stock has gained 64% in the past year and 263% in the past five years. The analysts' recommendation is still to BUY!
